Dott Fabio Giangolini addressing the audience.
Strategic Communications’ Director Dott. Fabio Giangolini has recently been invited by Finance Malta to deliver a talk, as part of its Educational Clinic series of seminars.
Named “Corporate PR – Managing a Firm’s Corporate Image”, the two hour talk focused on the significance of the role of the corporate PR office within an organization, as a mean to engage both the internal and external public. The talk placed an emphasis on crisis control procedures from a PR point of view, namely the timely organization of press conferences, the preparation and divulgation of press releases and the assessment of the mid and long term effects that a crisis can have on a company’s image. Several case studies were analyzed and participants were actively involved in a training scenario.
“Crisis communication is a branch of public relations which unfortunately has not been given enough importance in Malta”, says Dott. Giangolini. “Frequently, the spokespersons of both private and government organizations in Malta lack adequate preparation, which results in them to be ineffective when addressing the media and the audience in general. As a consequence, they end up communicating the wrong messages, often causing damages to the image of their organizations that are difficult to recover from. On the other hand, a trained PR professional, might even end up finding ways of reinforcing his or her company’s image, by successfully dealing with the crisis at hand, and this is exactly the aim of the training that we deliver”, adds Dott. Giangolini.
