If you are using Google Adsense to monetize your website or blog, you may be facing the necessity of preventing specific advertisements or product categories from being advertised on your pages. This is particularly valid in times of general elections, when a number of websites using Adsense are bombarded by advertisements from political parties. If you want to maintain your neutrality, here are a few simple steps to follow.
There are two options offered by Google.
Block at the site level:
– Sign in to your AdSense account.
– In the left navigation panel, click Allow & block ads.
– Make sure “Content” is selected.
– Under Content, select the domain or subdomain that you want to set the block on.
– If your site is not listed, you can add it using the site management feature.
– In the horizontal bar across the top of the page, click the Sensitive categories tab.
– Use the controls on the page to allow or block categories. Changes are automatically saved on selection.
Block at the product level:
– Sign in to your AdSense account.
– In the left navigation panel, click Allow & block ads.
– Click your product. For example, click Content for AdSense for content.
– In the horizontal bar across the top of the page, click the Sensitive categories tab.
– Use the controls on the page to allow or block categories. Changes are automatically saved on selection.
Once one of the above procedure has been followed, Adsense will stop serving the specific advertisement within twenty four hours.
